WEIRD SHIT ON MY iPOD and...

...the mindless musings of a new Californian. Long title huh?

The Journey has ended...well...for about two weeks now. We are all settled in near Santa Rosa, which is in Sonoma County for the geographically interested, or about 40 minutes north of SF. I spent 3 days unpacking, giving Selene...delay that...Michela (I call her Mick) a chance to rest and get her wits. I think I can use Mick's real name now.

Nyx (still her real name) has been going ape shit, as is normal for cats when moved. Especially cross country. She'll settle down soon...I hope. When I get a chance, I throw up a "Caption Nyx".

So far I've spent my afternoons delivering my very short resume, into the hands of people who are probably looking for ways to lay off people they already have working for them. And a few PD departments, which would be the more promising venture. My profession, if anything, is pretty recession proof.

I'm still on this damn slow wireless connection for internet. Mick and I have been through our DVD library twice, waiting for the satellite guy to show up and get us connected to the rest of the world. I was going to hook up some rabbit ears in the meantime, but couldn't find anyone selling them. We have become a digitally addictated socienty. Among other ills.

Tonight I got into kind of a freakish, dark mood. Take that as you will. But for the first time I realized iTunes tells you how many songs you have, and the amount of disk space they are wasting on your computer. Right there at the bottom of the page. I have 1,721 songs that are consuming 10.64 gigs of space on my hard drive. I better find a way to back that shit up, and soon. I probably only downloaded 600 of them. The rest come from my CD collection, which probably as good a back-up as any.

The weirdest thing in my collection? Scotland the Brave, preformed by the "Auld Town Band & Pipes". I don't even remember downloading it, but at least I'm part Scottish, so it's acceptable. What I'm listening to right now: "Lazy Eye" performed by the "Silversun Pickups".

Earlier, I was listening to what I call "Goth" music, thus the dark part of my freakish mood. Technically it's just Alternative/Grunge/whatever the hell you want to call it. I found some "Kidneytheives" in my play list, from a CD I put onto iTunes called "Trickster". Brought back some memories from the late 90's, before I was married. Some good, and some better left in the 90's. I found out that they re-released the album as "TricksterProcess" in 2004, with some bonus tracks. I couldn't find it on iTunes, so now I'm pissed about it.

That really was some mindless musing. Anyway, we are loving it out here, and I hope everyone is doing well. More to come soon.

I can honestly say I've never heard any of those songs. I would normally look them up but I'm feeling lazy.

The question is, does my not knowing give away my age or my un-indie-ness? Yes, it's a word.

Thanks, Thinkinfyou.

Jules - I would say "Scotland the Brave" is timeless, but you get a pass on foreign bag pipe music.

The Kidneytheives are pretty obscure, so I'll give another pass there. But lack of knowledge about the Silversun Pickups would be un-indie like.
